For the clients of Hartley Construction, designing and building their own home is an exciting and rewarding experience.    

Hartley Construction has been designing and building uniquely beautiful custom homes for over 30 years. John Hartley is the architect, licensed general contractor, and president of Hartley Construction. He graduated from the Clemson School of Architecture in 1969, after which he served in the Peace Corps in Tunisia, North Africa. He has been designing and building homes in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area since 1978. He is well known for his connection with nature and innovative use of interior space. His homes feature arched openings, architectural geometric windows, and the use of quality material such as hardwood floors and ceramic tile bathrooms.    Steve Bailey is the office manager, with over 22 years in construction cost management. His job is to help clients keep track of decisions and costs. Steve attended Concord College in Athens West Virginia, Marshall University in Huntington West Virginia, and the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

   Jay Condie, licensed General Contractor, has over 18 years expeience in all phases of construction. Jay brings a great sense of humor (a valuable gift in the building trade!), and takes great pride in the exceptional quality of our homes.

   Keith Weir has extensive bobcat, excavation, drainage and landscaping experience. He is responsible for most exterior work including safety, site cleanups, final grading, walkways, drives and landscaping

   Lynn (Monson) Hayes is the marketing agent for the Hartley neighborhoods. She has been a licensed broker since 1982 and has assisted many clients through the process of designing and building a home. She is available to walk land, coordinate documentation, or shop for light fixtures...whatever is needed!
